What are Notification Preferences?
Settings → Notifications lets you control which booking events send an email notification and which create an in-app notification.
The page contains four booking events and two notification channels, giving you eight switches in total.
Why Do You Need Notification Preferences?
- Reduce unnecessary emails: Turn off notifications you do not need in your inbox.
- Keep important alerts visible: Keep email enabled for important events such as cancellations.
- Choose your preferred channel: Use email, in-app notifications, both, or neither for each supported event.
- Manage busy calendars: Prevent a high volume of bookings from turning into notification noise.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the Notifications Page
Click the gear icon in the left rail and select Notifications.
You can also go directly to /settings/notifications.
Step 2: Review the Notification Grid
The page is divided into three columns:
- Notification Type — the booking event that triggers the notification
- Email Notification — controls whether an email is sent
- App Notification — controls whether an in-app notification is created
| Notification Type | What It Means |
|---|---|
| New Booking | You received a new booking request |
| Booking Cancellation | A booking has been cancelled by the attendee |
| Booking Rescheduled | Your booking time has been changed |
| Booking Canceled | A booking has been cancelled |
Step 3: Choose Your Notification Channels
Use the switches beside each event to choose how you want Timetics AI to notify the workspace.
| App | Result | |
|---|---|---|
| On | On | Receive both email and in-app notifications |
| On | Off | Receive email only |
| Off | On | Receive an in-app notification only |
| Off | Off | No notification is created through these channels for that event |
Step 4: Changes Save Automatically
There is no separate Save button. Each preference is saved as soon as you toggle its switch.
If the save fails, the switch automatically returns to its previous state. This ensures the setting displayed on the page matches the preference stored by Timetics AI.
For a new workspace, all four notification events have both Email and App notifications enabled by default.
How Notification Preferences Work
Notification preferences are stored at the workspace level, not on your individual Timetics AI account.
This means changing a preference affects the workspace’s notification routing. For example, turning off the New Booking email does not disable it only for the person making the change; it disables that notification through the workspace’s routing.
Automatic Saving and Rollback
The switches use an immediate update system. When you toggle a preference, the interface changes first and then sends the update to the server.
If the update is unsuccessful, the switch rolls back automatically so you do not see a setting that was never actually saved.
The Two Cancellation Events
Booking Cancellation and Booking Canceled are separate notification events.
- Booking Cancellation is described as an attendee cancelling a booking.
- Booking Canceled represents the general booking cancellation event.
What This Page Does Not Control
The Notifications page only controls the supported workspace booking notifications. Other messages and automated actions in Timetics AI are managed separately.
| Notification | How It Is Managed |
|---|---|
| Guest booking confirmations | Sent independently of these preferences |
| Guest cancellation notices | Sent independently of these preferences |
| Guest reschedule notices | Sent independently of these preferences |
| Deposit balance reminders | Managed by Deposit Booking |
| Manual payment reminders | Sent from booking management |
| Workflow reminders and emails | Managed inside Workflows |
| Password reset emails | Account-level system email |
| Email verification | Account-level system email |
| Team invitations | Account and team system email |
| SMS notifications | Managed independently through Twilio |
| Webhooks | Controlled by webhook event subscriptions |
Guest-Facing Notifications
Turning off a notification on this page does not disable the corresponding guest-facing email.
For example, disabling your workspace’s cancellation email does not automatically prevent the guest from receiving their cancellation notice.
Booking and Payment Reminders
There is no booking reminder option on the Notifications page.
Guest booking reminders and other automated messages are configured through Workflows.
Deposit payment reminders are also independent of these notification preferences. Automatic balance reminders and the manual Send payment reminder action continue to operate separately.
SMS and Webhook Notifications
If Twilio is connected, SMS messages for supported confirmation, cancellation, rescheduling, and workflow events operate independently of the Email and App switches on this page.
Webhooks also operate independently. A webhook subscribed to a booking event can still fire even if both Email and App notifications for that event are switched off.
Prerequisites
- Access to the workspace settings area
- No premium plan is required
Notification preferences are available across all Timetics AI plans.
Important Notes
- Preferences are workspace-wide. A team member changing a notification preference affects the workspace’s notification routing rather than only their own account.
- All notification channels start enabled. New workspaces have Email and App notifications enabled for all four supported events by default.
- There is no Save button. Each switch saves immediately when changed.
- Failed changes automatically roll back. If Timetics AI cannot save a preference, the switch returns to its previous state.
- Turning off both channels can make an event easy to miss. You may need to check Manage Bookings or your synced calendar to notice the change.
- Per-user notification preferences are not currently available. Notification settings are workspace-scoped.
- Turning off App notifications does not remove the notification bell. It prevents new notifications for that event from being created. Existing notifications remain in the list.
- Guest emails are separate. These switches do not control booking confirmations, cancellation notices, or reschedule notices sent to guests.
- Workflow messages are separate. Booking reminders and other workflow emails are configured through Workflows rather than this page.
