Consultation Types let one calendar offer several different sessions, each with its own duration, price, and thumbnail.
Instead of creating separate calendars for a 15-minute intro call, a 45-minute strategy session, and a 90-minute deep dive, you can create one calendar and add three consultation types to it.
The guest chooses a consultation type on the booking page, and the booking duration and price are determined by that selection.
Consultation Types are available under the Consultation Type tab of a One-to-One calendar. Service-based calendars use an Extra Services tab instead. Both use the same underlying records, but Extra Services behave as add-ons rather than the primary booking choice.
Why Do You Need It?
- Guests can view your complete consultation menu in one place instead of opening several calendar links.
- Prices and durations appear side by side so guests can choose the session that fits them.
- Availability, buffer rules, booking questions, and other calendar settings are configured on the parent calendar and shared by every consultation type.
- Each consultation type can have its own price, making it easy to offer a free discovery call alongside paid consultations.
When Consultation Types are enabled, the calendar’s own price is no longer used. Pricing comes from the consultation type selected by the guest.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open a One-to-One Calendar
Go to Dashboard → Manage Calendars, open the calendar you want to edit, or create a new One-to-One calendar.
Then select the Consultation Type tab from the left rail.
Step 2: Click Add Consultation Type
If the calendar does not have any consultation types yet, you will see an introductory card with an Add Consultation Type button.
If your current plan does not include Consultation Type, the button is replaced by an upgrade prompt.
Step 3: Fill In the Details
The Consultation Type dialog includes the following fields:

| Short Description | Optional description displayed under the consultation title on the booking card. |
| Duration | The length of the consultation in minutes. |
| Price | The amount charged for the consultation. Enter 0 for a free session. |
| Discounted Price | Optional. When greater than zero, the discounted price is shown instead of the regular price. |
| Thumbnail | Optional image displayed as a round avatar on the consultation card. Maximum file size is 500 KB. |
| Tags | Up to 5 short labels such as Most Popular, displayed as small pills beside the consultation title. |
Click Confirm to save the consultation type.
Adding the first consultation type automatically enables the consultation_types configuration for that calendar.
Step 4: Set the Currency
After at least one consultation type has been created, a Currency selector appears at the top of the list. The selected currency applies to every consultation type in the calendar.
The Currency selector appears here because Consultation Types take control of pricing, so the standard calendar Pricing fields are no longer used for the base price.
Now you can drag and drop consultation types to control their order on the booking page, use Edit to update an existing type, or Delete to remove one.
Step 6: Allow Multiple Types in One Booking
When a calendar contains two or more consultation types, a card called Multiple Consultation Types in One Booking becomes available.
Enable it to let guests select several consultation types in one booking.
- The selected durations are added together.
- The selected prices are added together.
- The calendar searches for one continuous availability slot long enough to accommodate the combined duration.
When multiple selection is disabled, selecting a consultation type immediately moves the guest to the next booking step.
Step 7: Turn the Whole Feature Off
The Consultation Type list includes a main toggle.
Turning this toggle off keeps the consultation types stored but stops using them for new bookings. The calendar returns to its own price and duration settings.
What the Guest Sees
The booking page opens with a Choose your consultation step.
Each consultation type appears as a card containing:
- Thumbnail
- Consultation title
- Tags
- Description
- Price
- Duration
Free consultation types display Free in green instead of showing a zero price.
When multiple consultation types are disabled, selecting a card immediately moves the guest to the calendar step.
When multiple consultation types are enabled, cards can be selected or deselected and a Continue to Booking button remains disabled until at least one consultation type is selected.
Key Functionality
Duration Comes from the Consultation Type
When Consultation Types are enabled on a One-to-One calendar, the calendar’s own duration is ignored.
The booking duration is calculated from the consultation type selected by the guest. If multiple consultation types are selected, their durations are added together.
If a guest reaches the booking step without selecting any consultation type, the resulting duration is zero and the booking is rejected.
Price Comes from the Consultation Type
The calendar’s normal price and discounted price are ignored while Consultation Types are enabled.
The booking total is calculated from the selected consultation types. If a consultation type has a discounted price greater than zero, the discounted price is used instead of its regular price.
Availability Is Shared
Every consultation type uses the availability settings of the parent calendar, including:
- Working availability
- Buffer times
- Minimum notice
- Booking timeframe
- Meeting limits
Available time slots are recalculated based on the duration of the selected consultation type. For example, a 90-minute session may have fewer available slots than a 15-minute session on the same day.
Booking Questions Are Shared
The booking questions configured under Advanced Settings apply to every consultation type in the calendar.
There is no separate set of booking questions for individual consultation types.
Prerequisites
- A plan that includes Consultation Type.
- A One-to-One calendar. Service based calendars use Extra Services instead.
- Permission to update calendars.
- A connected payment gateway if any consultation type has a price greater than zero.
Notes
- Consultation Types and Extra Services use the same underlying records and share the same API endpoint.
- On a One-to-One calendar, Consultation Types replace the calendar’s price and duration.
- On a Service based calendar, Extra Services are added on top of the service’s own price and duration.
- When Consultation Types are enabled, the Pricing tab displays Price Controlled by Consultation Type instead of the normal price fields.
- Recurring booking, guest allowance, deposit, coupon, and refund settings continue to work normally.
- The server validates the number of consultation types selected. If multiple consultation types are disabled and a booking request contains more than one consultation type ID, the booking is rejected.
- A booking request containing consultation type IDs is also rejected when Consultation Types are disabled for that One-to-One calendar.
- Thumbnail images are limited to 500 KB. Larger files are rejected before upload.
- Thumbnail images are displayed inside a circular frame, so square images generally crop best.
- Each consultation type supports up to 5 tags.
- Tags are free text. Press Enter or comma to add each tag.
- Deleting a consultation type does not change existing bookings that used it.
- Past bookings keep the consultation title, duration, and price that were stored when the booking was created.
